What’s Your Fascination With Humans?

I can’t seem to get over our ability to be selfish. That’s what. 🤔

I’m continually fascinated by human beings’ ability to be self-focused.

I know it shouldn’t surprise me. It’s the one thing we do really well — selfishness. But I can’t help it.

I’m an idealist. Always hoping people will learn and then do better. Like Queen Maya Angelou advised us.

But nope. What I can count in is to surprised.

Surprised by how it almost takes zero effort to see the speck in someone else’s eye, while you have a log in you own.

You know. When you can say everything wrong with everyone else. You have a solution. But somehow, you remain oblivious to your own faults.

Mirror someone?

Self-awareness someone?

Or, when you tell someone you can’t do something with them (cos there’s no benefit to you, but of course, you have to be politcally correct and just say, ‘not available’). Only for you to later tell said person, how you went and did some other thing with some other human (who you felt was worth your time), but of course, you don’t say that.

Are you floored already?

Or are you the one guilty of these errors? LOL.

I don’t know.

I just think we need to live by the “treat others as you’d like to be treated” mantra.

Why?

Because we are selfish and we will always want the best for ourselves. That’s why.

So, if you apply that to everyone else you encounter:

Having grace for someone won’t feel so crazy.

Being kind won’t feel so weird.

Giving one the benefit of doubt.

The world would be a much better place for sure!

But what do I know?

I’m a mid-thirties lady, who purposes to live by God’s principles daily, fails often, and just wants the world to be a happier place.
